Coastal Electric will sponsor as many as two local students to join South Carolina delegation on the week-long tour hosted by electric cooperatives nationwide. The Youth Tour allows students to experience the nation’s Capitol and learn more about how they can make a difference as young adults. To be eligible, high school students entering their senior year in the fall of 2019 with a GPA of 3.0 or higher may apply for the 2019 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. Participants will learn about the cooperative business model and values, visit historic monuments and memorials, pay their respects at The Arlington National Cemetery, meet elected officials and tour a variety of Smithsonian museums, all while building a peer network with young leaders from across the country.
In addition, the winning student(s) will be eligible to participate in the Cooperative Youth Summit and experience South Carolina’s capital including a tour of the State House, meet lawmakers and see how co-ops are preparing for our state’s energy future.
More than 1,800 students from 40 states are expected to participate in 2019 so if you or someone you know is interested, then fill out this online application.
